Benefits and uses of weeds:

Weeds as soil indicators:

Dock, sorrel, bulrush, salvation jane, thistle, nettle, and chickweed all indicate that the soil is either Poorly Drained and Acidic, Waterlogged, Overgrazed and Compacted, Saline, Sandy, Infertile, or Dry and Compact rich fertile Loam.

 

Weeds for medicinal use

Cleavers (Bedstraw): cancer, urinary disorder, blood cleanser, tonic

St. John’s Wort: lung, bladder, nervous problems, and tremors, mental disorder, liver, spleen, consumption.

Scarlet pimpernel: coughs and colds

Horehound: urinary, kidney, and liver

Dandelion: skin blemishes and tonic

Fumitory: externally cuts, sores, ulcers, burns, and other skin irritations

Plantain: externally skin problems, internally inflammations

Chickweed: nervous disorders

Nettle: externally rheumatism and hair tonic

Wild lettuce: asthma and blood cleanser

Willow weed: Prostate cancer

Marshmallow: inflammations of the alimentary, urinary, and respiratory systems

Chickory: May be used to make tea and may reduce the intensity of headaches.
