Encourage your local municipalities to designate a specified space as green, and contacting community newspapers about green space issues: The Evergreen site (listed above) has a page called the Nature of Cities Action Center that gives some quick tips for writing letters to officials in your area, as well as links to those various offices, a hot-issue list and fact sheets, and a composer to write your e-mail. The Oregon Conservation Network also has a link to local elected officials. You just visit the site, plug in your zip code, and lists of officials in your area are readily accessible. It's that easy to get your voice heard. |
